Cedar Valley Catholic Schools offers a variety of extracurricular activities designed to enhance the classroom education of its students through a foundation of faith, discipline, service and knowledge. Participants have the opportunity to develop new skills, contribute towards successful teams and serve their community.
Competing as a member of the North Iowa Cedar League, Columbus Catholic has established a tradition of athletic excellence that dates back to its inception in 1959. The Sailors have compiled 43 state team championships in IGHSAU and IHSAA sanctioned sports — including 24 titles since 2000. In addition, Columbus students have won 91 individual state titles.
During the 2021-22 school year, Sailors captured a girls tennis state team title, earned individual state championships in diving and wrestling, and added an individual state runner-up finish in girls golf. Columbus Catholic’s dance team defended its state title in the Class VI pom division of the Iowa State Dance Team Championships. The Sailors’ stunt group added a runner-up finish at the Iowa High School Cheerleading Championships. In additon, our football team has earned playoff appearances three out of the last four years.
