At Saint Edward School, we strive to create a friendly and supportive learning environment for our students. Saint Edward School supports the efforts of people to strengthen their personal relationship with God in a faith community.
We strive to be Christ-centered for all. Our school climate works to influence the development of positive attitudes and Catholic Christian values.
Family and School Partnership:
Saint Edward is a place in which parents are viewed as the first educators of their children in their faith, values and morals. Saint Edward families engage with their child’s education through monthly Leadership Notebook collaboration opportunities, monthly leadership events, family prayer service opportunities, volunteer opportunities and parent teacher conferences. Annually we exceed 98% parent participation in our fall / spring conferences to ensure positive connections to support the whole child development of our students.
100% of Students in K-5 are Active in Schoolwide Leadership Roles:
Our students engage in leadership through a variety of opportunities to let their Leadership Shine! From Ambassadors to Grounds Crew our students make our school a great place to learn critical leadership skills
100% of students are actively engaged in Service:
Students in grades K-5 learn the importance of service through curricularly embedded service opportunities to support our school community, our Parish Community and the Greater Cedar Valley Community. Through these service learning opportunities our students learn about the teachings of the Catholic Church as well as developing an understanding of the value of service!
Immersion in a Digital Environment focused on Citizenship:
Students at Saint Edward participate in a 1:1 digital learning environment with Apple iPads. Students K-5 participate in weekly tech classes where students are exposed to robotics, coding, 3D Printing, mini drones, and digital storytelling. We believe the integration of technology in the classroom increases student engagement, accommodates multiple learning styles, encourages collaboration and communication, and prepares students for the future with Catholic morality at the core of technological use.
Focus on the Wildly Important:
100% of students in grades K-5 create, organize and maintain a Student Leadership Notebook which guides goal setting, reflection, accountability and celebration of success. Our students focus on goals that are Wildly Important and use the 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX) process to help achieve success in the classroom, in their relationships and in their personal lives.
Engagement in the Sacraments:
Students at Saint Edward are immersed in the celebration of the Sacraments of the Catholic Church. Students attend Mass weekly to celebrate the Eucharist with grade level students participating in the planning and leading of the weekly Mass. Students in 2nd through 5th grade celebrate Reconciliation twice per year as a part of their curricular experience. Additionally, students in 2nd grade prepare for and receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist in partnership with their families through the academic year.
Saint Edward School has earned the distinction of Lighthouse School from the Franklin Covey Leader in Me Program. There are 5,000 Leader in Me schools in 55 countries, only 12% are designated as a Lighthouse School. Saint Edward Elementary is the 6th Leader Valley School to receive this prestigious honor.
Much like a lighthouse provides direction and guidance for those around them, Lighthouse Schools are seen as models of continual growth in leadership, culture, and academic achievement. What sets Saint Edward School apart from other Lighthouse Schools in the Cedar Valley is that we can layer our students' interactions and experiences with faith as the cornerstone. We are the hands of Christ. Student leadership jobs, setting goals, supporting each other, and being servant leaders is part of the Saint Edward Family Culture.
